Brett Henderson

Brett Henderson

Owner, Senior Retirement Plan Consultant

As a prior US Marine Corps Officer, Brett brings a unique discipline to corporate finance. During his years of service Brett was an M1A1 tank officer, commanding and providing recommendations for the tactical employment of his unit. After his service as a Marine Officer, he began bringing the firepower to retirement plans. Brett has been in the corporate finance industry for 15 years, working as an advisor for Merrill Lynch and UBS Financial Services, and earning industry recognition such as the 2017 NAPA Young Guns Award and being named Financial Times Top 401(k) Advisors in 2016 and 2017. With a desire to provide a more personalized approach without sales quotas or proprietary products, he founded Henderson Wealth Management as an independent firm. When he is not facilitating retirement plans, Brett enjoys much of his time as a new father with his young son Lucas. He also enjoys taking his Jeep on desert expeditions. He graduated from Tulane University with a Bachelor of Science in Management in Accounting in 1998, and Boston University with a Master of Science in Business Administration in 2002. Brett is a Certified Investment Management Analyst® (CIMA®). What does that mean? It means he completed as an advanced professional education and certification program for advisors who desire to serve their clients with the most sophisticated investment and portfolio management knowledge.

Teresa Cao

Teresa Cao

VP of Client Experience

Teresa Cao is an undergraduate finance student at California State University, Long Beach (CSULB). She is the Vice President of Client Experience at Henderson Wealth Management. She has 10 years of experience in the customer service industry, where she has developed many lasting friendships. Her dedication to providing exemplary service will be an asset to the Henderson Wealth Management and its clients. When Teresa is not building relationships with clients, she is cooking up some new recipes, playing with her two dogs, or traveling to find a new favorite beach spot.

James Battmer

James Battmer

Chief Investment Officer

With over 16 years in the financial services industry, James leads the firm’s research and portfolio analysis while also leading the Investment and Policy Committee. He holds a master’s degree from the London School of Economics. His work is frequently published in business periodicals and magazines. Before joining the firm in 2010, James served as Vice President at UMB Bank from 2005 –2008, as a financial analyst at Morgan Stanley from 2004 ‐2005, and at the Montana World Trade Center from 2001 through 2004. James graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Montana in 2002. Phil Troyer

Phil Troyer

Chief Compliance Officer

Phil Troyer serves as our Chief Compliance Officer and is responsible for the firm’s overall compliance with federal and state investment laws. Phil has been a licensed attorney for over 20 years​​. H​is prior experience includes serving as General Counsel for NRP Financial and NRP Advisors, a broker-dealer and investment adviser owned by National Retirement Partners​, as well as managing his own national ERISA practice​, which have made him a ​recognized thought leader in the retirement plan industry.​ ​In addition, Phil is able to draw upon his past experience in insurance, litigation, contract interpretation, and corporate law to assist the firm and its practice leaders with managing the risks associated with their businesses. The Battle Buddy Foundation ensures Veterans and their families receive programs and services that help them acclimate back to family and civilian life by:

  • Building a community of peer support for veterans and their families through programs, events and social media.
  • Providing elite service dogs to disabled veterans of all eras suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress, Traumatic Brain Injury and physical limitations, at no cost to the veteran.
  • Providing education and awareness to the public and private sectors pertaining to service dog law and etiquette, the rights of disabled veterans and other issues facing our veteran community.
